The "invisible" Elephant in the room: ELDERLY JW's nobody provides for
by Terry inquestion: how does the leadership of jehovah's witnesses instruct its members to prepare for the eventual elder care of its members?.
answer: it pretends it will never happen!.
is this responsible leadership or some kind of cognitive dissonant malfeasance?.

No Governing Body in Paul's day
by The Searcher inthe given understanding of the bible account at acts 15 regarding the circumcision issue is that a "governing body" resolved the issue.
is this assertion based on scriptural evidence?
while jesus walked the earth, some of his apostles were contentious with each other regarding who would be superior to the others.

Galatians only makes sense after you stop being a JW. Look at the facts:
Three years after his conversion he travels to Jerusalem not to meet with a governing body, but to simply meet James and Peter. Now if there was a GB you would expect that Paul would be asked to make sure you check in with us and only do what we tell (command) you to do. It is then 11 years until he comes back to Jerusalem for the reasons TS states above.
Now a parody:
Two years after the death of Jesus, following his being born again, Pollock went to Dallas in 1997, where the internet states he was healed of his blindness and baptized by a well known JW called Anders. Anders chats about Jesus (as there are no writings about Jesus in 1997). Anders baptizes Pollock a few weeks later, not at an assembly (as the Governing Council, Sanhedrin in New York state as a rule) but in Lake Lewisville, nearby Dallas. In 2001 he tries to visit some people who knew Jesus in New York and they get along fine, agreeing to keep in touch. Meanwhile the Governing Council, Sanhedrin dismiss him as being “mentally diseased” and then ask a CO to look into what Anders did in Dallas. Anders gets publically reproved and a local needs talk is given stating that baptisms must only take place at authorized festivals called assemblies and that the BOE should have gone over the questions for baptism with Pollock first from the OM book, an oral law book. After all, the Governing Council, Sanhedrin claim divine authority or so is said but nothing is written at this point, just stories passed from one to another about Jesus’ life and ministry.
For the next 11 years Pollock starts asserting that he received enlightenment not from any person, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. Pollock claims almost total independence from the Governing Council, Sanhedrin in New York revealing much “new light” on scriptural application and interpretation.
In 2011, a close friend, Barney (who he had differences with in the past) who is in Arlington VA, tells of some problems with the Governing Council, Sanhedrin “interpretation” of the oral Law of Christ that is putting hardship on the Arlington congregation. Arlington is where followers of Christ were first called Christians and they are proud of that. The Arlington congregation like what Pollock says and trust him. They also have a lot of respect for Barney and ask them to go the Governing Council, Sanhedrin to set the matter straight. Rather than listening to Pollock and Barney they dismiss Pollock as not being a real Christian because his baptism is not valid, but in a kind way suggest he submits his concerns in writing. Meanwhile the local CO in Arlington is informed of Barney’s association with an apostate and that he should deal with this on his next visit. He contacts the BOE to round up all those who have been murmuring against what the Watchtower stated and make sure that the congregation understands that what is written by the Governing Council, Sanhedrin is without question. Pollock makes strong arguments backed up by scriptural references and historical background.
Pollock begins his own writings in 2012 using the internet and a website to help the congregations he starts and frequently visits to keep in touch. Paul helps many congregations though this website to deal with numerous problems, recommendations, suggestions, interpretation of the Law of Christ, etc. He writes over a dozen major pieces that have a profound effect since the first account of Jesus emerged in 2002 written by Matty a friend of Jesus, 16 years after the death of Jesus in 1995. At the same time three others start writing accounts of Jesus including one of the friends Pollock visited in New York in 2001. Another person, Jim who was Jesus half brother, and recently became a Christian also starts writing as does another half brother of Jesus.

BEARDS: Why JW men don't have them
by 00DAD ini know this has been dished over before, but when i was doing some research i discovered a couple of interesting points.
as far as i can find, there is only one wt article that implies that jw men should not have beards.
*** w75 8/15 pp.

I suggest a move back to beards would be good for the WTB$. All that money spent on Braun's, Gillette, Phillips and Remingtons could go into the ol' cash box along with the money not given to Halmark for Xmas, Easter, Mothers' day, etc. This November I plan to have my first beard (a stylish, trimmed and respectable "Van Armburgh") for Movember - 1st one since I cut it off for the Borg in '83.

What a joke. Why do the JW's think that every world shaking event is pointed at them? I was mislead by the whole WW2 belief that it was an attack against the anointed, I truly drank that in....yet I was confused some 20 odd years later when I learned that likely 80,000 - 200,000 freemasons lost their lives for not pledging an oath of allegiance to Hitler. This pales in comparison to the JW's that 10,000 were sent to concentration camps and 2,500 losing their lives. I do not want to minimize or trivialize the murder of any one at the hands of any regime, but it begs a question - WW2 for the witnesses? Really? What about the freemasons? What about the over 600,000 that lost their lives because of other religious affiliation (only Witnesses were recorded) possibly many catholics, protestants, mennonites, lutherans, etc.?? The gypsies (250,000 murdered), homosexuals (6,000 estimated as murdered), mentally ill (estimated at about 60,000) and finally, what about the 6 million Jews?

Latest May 2012 Watchtower: "JW wives must be more lovable"
by cedars inyes, the latest watchtower is upon us.
it opens with a typically outlandish article on marriage.
here are a few of the headlines:.

What about husbands who take more than one wife such as Solomon who married unbeliever(s). Does that not make him "disobedient to God"? Therefore, taking the logic once step further, his prayers would be in vain and his future so called blessings at risk would they not? Yet how often is this man lauded in the WT?
As to sexual intimacy the GB have no clue because they have no idea what that means. What about a husband that cannot achive an erection due to advancing age? Should he be precluded from loving his wife and making love to his deeply cherished wife in ways that she feels fulfilled sexually? What about a wife being able to love her husband in ways that perhaps normal vaginal intercourse is too difficult or painful for her?
BTW: my wife is more loveable now sexually, we get along better and she has a better frame of mind given we no longer ascribe to the teachings of these malevolent, misogyist (thanks for the remeinder Diana) men.

Exactly 00DAD: So the JW's encouraged Englewood to use bloodless surgery so that now they can train DOD doctor$$$ to save soldiers lives so that more soldiers can go out and kill. What a positive outcome for such staunch adherence to ones belief. While they may all be sharing this as vindication does it not seem odd that the tone of the feature is basically we can "thank JW's for heading us in the right direction to save lives of soliders so we can have a better kill ratio in the battlefield". Lest see if this one gets sanitized in some form over the next few months in WTprint or WT speak from the platform.

Common themes: Money, DOD, grants, soldiers, military, we should use transfusions as a last resort (not we should not use transfusions).
As healthcare is a business in the US how do we know that Englewood's MO was not to see another source of revenue which has now paid off?
